Ingredients

  • 1 can cream of chicken soup
  • 6 boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 packets chicken gravy mix
  • 1 ¼ teaspoons onion powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoons garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Fresh or frozen vegetables optional

Instructions

Prepare the gravy mixture.

  • In the slow cooker, combine the cream of chicken soup, water, chicken gravy mix, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir thoroughly until the mixture is well blended and mostly smooth.

Add the chicken.

  • Place the boneless, skinless chicken breasts into the slow cooker. Turn the chicken pieces gently to coat them evenly with the gravy mixture.

Cook the chicken.

  • Cover the slow cooker with the lid. Cook on high for 4 hours or on low for 8 hours, until the chicken is fully cooked and tender.

Add vegetables, if desired.

  • If using fresh or frozen vegetables, stir them into the slow cooker during the final hour of cooking. Continue cooking until the vegetables are tender and heated through.

Serve.

  • Serve the chicken whole, sliced, or shredded with the gravy. It may be served on its own or over mashed potatoes, rice, pasta, egg noodles, or biscuits.

Notes

To make this recipe gluten-free, use a certified gluten-free cream of chicken soup and gluten-free chicken gravy mix. Always check labels carefully, as many canned soups and gravy packets contain wheat-based thickeners. Serve the chicken and gravy over gluten-free pasta, rice, mashed potatoes, or gluten-free biscuits.
