Ingredients

  • 1 recipe or packaged mix for fudge brownies prepared for a 9 x 13-inch pan
  • 5 cups shredded coconut
  • 14 oz sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 ½ cups powdered sugar
  • 1 container chocolate fudge frosting

Instructions

Prepare the brownie base.

  • Prepare the fudge brownie batter according to the package directions or according to the instructions for a preferred homemade brownie recipe. Use a 9 x 13-inch baking pan.

Bake the brownies.

  • Bake the brownies as directed, or until the center is set and the brownies are fully baked.

Cool completely.

  • Allow the baked brownies to cool completely in the pan before adding the coconut layer.

Prepare the coconut filling.

  • In a medium mixing bowl, combine the shredded coconut, sweetened condensed milk, and powdered sugar.

Mix the coconut layer.

  • Stir the coconut mixture until all ingredients are thoroughly combined and the coconut is evenly coated.

Spread the coconut layer.

  • Spread the coconut mixture evenly over the cooled brownie base. Use a spatula to press and smooth the filling into an even layer.

Warm the frosting.

  • Remove any foil or protective seal from the chocolate fudge frosting container. Microwave the frosting for approximately 30 seconds, or until it becomes smooth and pourable.

Stir the frosting.

  • Stir the warmed frosting carefully to ensure an even, fluid consistency. Avoid overheating.

Apply the chocolate topping.

  • Pour the warmed chocolate fudge frosting over the coconut layer.

Spread evenly.

  • Use a spatula to spread the frosting evenly across the entire surface, covering the coconut layer completely.

Allow the brownies to set.

  • Let the frosted brownies stand at room temperature until the chocolate topping has fully set and the layers are stable.

Slice and serve.

  • Once set, cut the brownies into 12 portions or smaller squares, if desired. Serve at room temperature.
