1package flavored instant mashed potatoesprepared according to package instructions
1½poundslean ground beef
¾cuponionfinely diced
1½tablespoonsWorcestershire sauce
1cupbread crumbs
1large egg
⅓cupbacon bits
¾cupgreen onionschopped
2cupscheddar cheesefreshly shredded
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Prepare the instant mashed potatoes according to the package directions and set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, diced onion, Worcestershire sauce, and bread crumbs. Mix gently until incorporated. Add the egg and mix again until evenly combined.
Transfer the meat mixture to a lightly greased baking dish, pressing it into an even layer.
Spread the prepared mashed potatoes evenly over the meat mixture.
Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the mashed potatoes, followed by the bacon bits and chopped green onions.
Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 40 minutes.
Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 15 minutes, or until the meat is fully cooked and the cheese is melted and lightly golden.
Remove from the oven and allow the casserole to rest for 10 minutes before serving.
