Preheat the oven to 425°F.
Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish thoroughly.
Arrange the tater tots in an even layer across the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake the tater tots for 15 minutes.
While the tater tots are baking, cook the bacon until crisp.
Drain the cooked bacon, if necessary, and crumble it into small pieces.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and sour cream.
Add three-fourths of the crumbled bacon to the bowl.
Add 1 1/2 cups of the Mexican blend cheese.
Add half of the chopped green onions.
Add the deseeded and finely chopped jalapeno peppers.
Stir the mixture until all ingredients are evenly combined.
Fold the cooked, shredded chicken into the cream cheese mixture until fully incorporated.
Remove the baking dish from the oven after the tater tots have baked for 15 minutes.
Spread the chicken and jalapeno cream cheese mixture evenly over the baked tater tots.
Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of Mexican blend cheese over the top.
Add the remaining chopped green onions and remaining crumbled bacon.
Return the baking dish to the oven.
Bake for an additional 20 minutes, or until the casserole is hot, the cheese is melted, and the top is lightly golden.
Remove the casserole from the oven and allow it to rest for several minutes before serving.
Serve warm.
