Ingredients

  • 1 can 10 3/4 oz cream of chicken soup
  • 1 can 10 1/2 oz French onion soup
  • 1 packet au jus gravy mix
  • 1/2 c water
  • 4 cube steaks
  • 3 tbsp cornstarch
  • 3 tbsp cold water

Instructions

Prepare the gravy base.

  • Add the cream of chicken soup, French onion soup, au jus gravy mix, and 1/2 cup of water to the bottom of a 6-quart slow cooker. Stir until thoroughly combined.

Add the cube steak.

  • Place the cube steaks into the slow cooker and turn them gently to coat them in the gravy mixture.

Cook the steak.

  • Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours, or until the cube steak is tender.

Prepare the slurry.

  • In a small bowl, combine the cornstarch and 3 tablespoons of cold water. Stir until smooth.

Thicken the gravy.

  • Add the cornstarch slurry to the slow cooker after the beef is fully cooked. Stir gently to incorporate it into the gravy.

Finish cooking.

  • Increase the heat to high and continue cooking for an additional 30 minutes, or until the gravy has thickened.

Serve.

  • Serve the cube steak warm with the gravy spooned over the top.
