Ingredients

  • 6 large eggs
  • ¼ c milk
  • c red bell pepper diced
  • c green bell pepper diced
  • ¼ c yellow onion diced
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper or to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon salt or to taste
  • 6 slices bacon cooked
  • 12 ounces crescent rolls refrigerated, I used 1 can (12 ounces Pillsbury Grands crescents)
  • 1 c cheddar cheese shredded
  • 1 large egg for egg wash
  • 1 tablespoon water

Instructions

  • Begin by preheating your oven to 375°F. Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper.
  • Fry the bacon until it turns crispy. Once it's done set it aside on a paper towel to drain any grease.
  • In a bowl whisk together the eggs and milk. Then add in the red and green bell peppers, onion, garlic powder, salt and black pepper.
  • Pour the egg mixture into a skillet. Cook over medium heat. Stir occasionally until the eggs are scrambled.
  • Unroll the crescent roll dough and place each triangle on the baking sheet in a pattern, with their points facing outward.
  • Arrange cooked bacon along the edge of the dough circle followed by half of the cheese. Spread scrambled eggs over the cheese layer. Then sprinkle with the remaining cheese.
  • Fold over each point of crescent dough to cover up all fillings while securing its ring shape by tucking them under its edge.
  • Brush the top of the crescent dough, with an egg wash made by combining one beaten egg and a tablespoon of water.
  • Place the baking sheet in the oven. Bake for 18 to 22 minutes until the crescent dough turns brown and cooks thoroughly.
  • Allow the breakfast ring to cool for a minutes slice it and serve while still warm. Enjoy your Crescent Breakfast Ring!

Notes

You can still enjoy this delightful dish with a simple swap. Instead of traditional crescent roll dough, look for a gluten-free pastry dough option in your local grocery store or health food market. Many brands offer gluten-free dough that can be shaped and baked much like its gluten-containing counterpart, ensuring you don’t miss out on the flaky, buttery goodness of the original recipe. Be sure to also check that your bacon and cheese are gluten-free, as some products may contain additives or fillers that include gluten.
