Ingredients

  • 1 package frozen Texas Style Garlic Cheese Toast
  • 1 green pepper sliced
  • 1 onion sliced
  • 12 oz shaved cheesesteak meat
  • 3 slices mozzarella cheese
  • 3 slices provolone cheese
  • Olive oil or butter as needed
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

Preheat the oven.

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F.

Bake the garlic cheese toast.

  • Prepare the frozen Texas Style Garlic Cheese Toast according to the package directions.

Cool the toast.

  • Remove the garlic cheese toast from the oven and set it aside to cool slightly.

Cook the vegetables.

  • Add olive oil to a skillet and heat over medium heat. Add the sliced green pepper and onion. Cook until the vegetables are softened.

Set the vegetables aside.

  • Remove the cooked vegetables from the skillet and set aside.

Cook the cheesesteak meat.

  • In the same skillet, add the shaved cheesesteak meat. Add a small amount of butter, if needed. Cook until the meat is browned and fully cooked.

Season the meat.

  • Season the cheesesteak meat with salt and black pepper to taste.

Set the meat aside.

  • Remove the cooked meat from the skillet and set aside.

Prepare the baking tray.

  • Line a baking tray with parchment paper.

Arrange the toast.

  • Place the slices of garlic cheese toast on the prepared baking tray.

Add the provolone.

  • Place one slice of provolone cheese on each slice of garlic cheese toast.

Add the filling.

  • Top the provolone with a portion of the cooked cheesesteak meat, green pepper, and onion mixture.

Add the mozzarella.

  • Place one slice of mozzarella cheese over the steak and vegetable filling.

Form the sandwiches.

  • Cover each portion with another slice of garlic cheese toast to form a sandwich.

Brown the sandwiches.

  • Add butter to a skillet and heat over medium heat. Place one sandwich in the skillet and cook until lightly browned on one side.

Flip and finish cooking.

  • Carefully turn the sandwich over and brown the opposite side. Continue cooking until the cheese is melted and the sandwich is heated through.

Repeat and serve.

  • Repeat with the remaining sandwiches. Serve warm.
