Ingredients

  • 1 box brownie mix 18 oz, such as Ghirardelli
  • 8 oz cream cheese room temperature
  • 8 oz whipped topping thawed
  • 1/4 c milk plus more as needed
  • 1 c mini chocolate chips optional

Instructions

Heat-treat the brownie mix.

  • Place the dry brownie mix in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high in 15-second intervals for approximately 90 seconds total, stirring between each interval, until the mix reaches 165°F.

Cool the brownie mix.

  • Allow the heat-treated brownie mix to cool completely before using.

Beat the cream cheese.

  • Place the room-temperature cream cheese in a large mixing bowl. Beat with an electric mixer until smooth and creamy.

Scrape the bowl.

  • Scrape the bottom and sides of the bowl, then beat again until the cream cheese is fully smooth and lump-free.

Add the whipped topping.

  • Add the thawed whipped topping to the cream cheese. Beat until fully incorporated and fluffy.

Add the brownie mix.

  • Add the cooled brownie mix to the cream cheese mixture. Beat until fully combined. The mixture will be very thick.

Adjust the consistency.

  • Add the milk gradually, 1 tbsp at a time, beating after each addition, until the dip reaches the desired consistency.

Add the chocolate chips.

  • If using mini chocolate chips, fold them into the dip until evenly distributed.

Transfer to a serving bowl.

  • Spoon the dip into a serving bowl.

Serve.

  • Serve with pretzels, fresh fruit, graham crackers, cookies, marshmallows, or other preferred dippers.
