Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 8 oz elbow macaroni
  • 6 bacon strips cooked until crisp and chopped
  • c beef broth
  • 3 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 –2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 c shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ c shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

Prepare the Bacon and Pasta

  • Cook the bacon in a skillet until fully crisp. Remove from the pan, drain on paper towels, and chop into small pieces. Separately, cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions until al dente. Drain well and set aside.

Brown the Ground Beef

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook while breaking it apart with a spoon until evenly browned and fully cooked. Drain excess grease, leaving a small amount in the pan for flavor.

Prepare the Sauce Mixture

  • In a small bowl, whisk together the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, and cornstarch until smooth and fully combined. This step ensures even thickening during cooking.

Combine Pasta and Sauce

  • Add the cooked macaroni to the skillet with the browned beef. Pour in the prepared broth mixture and stir thoroughly to coat the pasta and meat evenly.

Add Bacon and Simmer

  • Stir in the chopped bacon. Cook over medium heat until the mixture begins to simmer and the sauce thickens slightly, creating a cohesive, saucy texture.

Finish with Cheese

  • Evenly sprinkle the shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheeses over the skillet. Cover and cook for 2–3 minutes, or until the cheese has completely melted.

Serve

  • Remove from heat and serve immediately while hot.
