Amish Country Casserole

Ingredients

  • 12 oz medium egg noodles about 6 1/2 c
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 10.75 oz can tomato soup
  • 1 10.5 oz can cream of mushroom soup or cream of chicken soup
  • 1 c milk
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp minced garlic
  • 2 tbsp dried onion flakes
  • 1/4 c grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

Preheat the oven.

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F.

Prepare the baking dish.

  • Spray a 9x13-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray. Set aside.

Cook the noodles.

  • Cook the medium egg noodles according to the package directions.

Drain the noodles.

  • Drain the cooked noodles thoroughly and set aside.

Cook the ground beef.

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, cook and crumble the ground beef until fully browned.

Season the beef.

  • Season the cooked ground beef with salt and pepper, to taste.

Drain excess grease.

  • Drain any excess grease from the skillet.

Prepare the sauce.

  • In a large bowl, stir together the tomato soup, cream of mushroom soup, milk, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic, dried onion flakes, salt, and pepper.

Combine the casserole mixture.

  • Add the cooked egg noodles and cooked ground beef to the sauce mixture.

Stir until coated.

  • Stir until the noodles and beef are evenly coated with the sauce.

Transfer to the baking dish.

  • Spread the mixture evenly into the prepared 9x13-inch baking dish.

Bake the casserole.

  • Bake uncovered for 25 to 30 minutes, or until heated through and lightly bubbling around the edges.

Cover if needed.

  • If the top begins to look too dry or crisp, cover the baking dish loosely with aluminum foil and continue baking until fully heated.

Add Parmesan cheese.

  • Remove the casserole from the oven and sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the top.

Serve.

  • Serve warm with garlic bread, salad, or preferred side dishes.

Notes

To make this Amish Country Casserole gluten free, replace the egg noodles with certified gluten-free egg noodles or another gluten-free pasta shape. Verify that the tomato soup, cream of mushroom soup or cream of chicken soup, Worcestershire sauce, dried onion flakes, Parmesan cheese, and all packaged ingredients are labeled gluten free or free from gluten-containing additives.
