  • ¾ c heavy cream
  • 6 large eggs + 3 egg yolks
  • 2 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 loaf French bread cut into 8 slices
  • 6 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 c light brown sugar packed
  • c light corn syrup
  • ¼ c maple syrup
  • 1 c pecans chopped

Instructions

Prepare the Custard Mixture:

  • In a bowl whisk together milk, cream, eggs, egg yolks and vanilla extract.

Soak the Bread:

  • Place the slices of bread in a dish. Pour the custard mixture over them making sure each slice is thoroughly coated. Cover the dish. Refrigerate it overnight.

Create the Pecan Topping:

  • The morning preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a pan melt butter over medium heat. Remove from heat. Stir in sugar, corn syrup, maple syrup and chopped pecans.

Assemble and Bake:

  • Spread the mixture evenly in a 3-quart baking dish. Arrange the soaked bread on top of it.
  • Bake, for 35 minutes or, until brown. Allow it to cool for 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy while warm!
